My building!

English version of this post below, Poopsie. Just scroll down a bit :)

Before anything, please click on 'follow this blog' on the right column. I'm trying to see who's reading this blog.

Okay, so today was the first day of Orientation. I was kinda nervous! First day of school nervous. Got up really early and got the bus to the school. It was freezing! 47 degrees when yesterday was 80s and 90s and all we could do was eat ice cream! It started off with free breakfast and a speech from the Dean. He looks cool and said a few jokes too. Then they introduced us to the staff and second year students, they'll be helping us out throughout this week. A few members of the staff talked about scholarships, tuition, the programs, etc. Then we had an hour break and that's when everyone started to get to know one another. I sat with some people I met at the incoming student happy hour and some new people, even a girl from Sweden! They all seem really nice, and there's people from 22 years old to 30, but it feels like we're all the same age because we're at the same stage of our lives and share the same interests (academically). It was nice. Then we had another session of financial aid information and then lunch. Lunch was actually a box with a sub, chips, a cookie, fruit salad and some nuts. After lunch we had sessions of the specific programs, so we could go to whichever one interested us the most. I went to Humanitarian Assistance and Human Rights, which are the two programs I'm doing. Met some people who are doing the exact same thing.
Also met some really bad-ass teachers, one is a Law teacher who was at the Rwanda court and the Yugoslavian one. So cool! I want to take his class so badly, but it's full already. I'll get it next quarter. The other one emphasizes in human traffic and children soldiers and he wore cowboy boots! With work pants! Lol! I want to take his class too.
Then they had a gender violence thing. They separated boys from girls and talked about sexual harrassment, sexual abuse, consent, coercion and that sort of thing. It felt pretty obvious and kinda useless. Isn't it just common sense that if you don't want you say no? I thought so.
Last, we had the Dean's cheese and wine reception. Except he was nowhere to be found. But it was cool, we got to hang out a bit more and get to know each other. I like all the people so far, they all are really nice!
